How do I get up at 4:00 a.m.? Should I go to bed at 9 or 10 p.m.? What are the benefits of getting up at 4am?

OK first when I wake up at 4:00 AM is a very good decision and yes, there is an honest way to do it.

Putting YOURSELF first can literally change your life if you get used to it. I know this from experience and the experience of a small group of friends who all started doing this with me at the same time.
All our lives changed for the better as a result. Before I get in the way and a few tips that will help you think it is worth repeating why waking up in the morning IS a really good idea.

WHY DO YOU GET UP?

When I was 9-5 I was like most people and got out of bed at the last minute. Years later I began to feel frustrated because I had not been able to do the things that were important to me — or even to find out what those things were. I realized I was making a mistake by giving the best hours of my day to my job and coming home and feeling too tired to do much of anything.

When I saw this I started waking up at 5:00 AM which gave me 3 hours every morning to dedicate myself to ME Inc. After finishing the first hump, it starts to feel amazing to get to work and know that you are already in half a day of energy focused on the things that are important to you. Seriously. Taking action and setting priorities will literally change the way you look and value your time… be aware that this can ultimately have a profound effect on your health.

It was not long before I began to appreciate my future in the morning. It became a spiritual thing for me. Because there is NOTHING you should be doing right now that makes it so holy — you can do anything. It's a pure game.

And the strange thing is that I started to feel VERY strong during the whole day. And by putting myself first I spent less time watching TV or other bad habits because now those were things I didn't have the time and energy for - there was no democracy involved in saying no to this, there was none. their place in my life now. I had no intention of quitting my morning. Weeks and months later I saw when my friends who woke up in the morning (and I included) all began to make wonderful changes in our lives that seemed previously unimaginable. It was something close to magic.

HOW

At first, getting up in the morning will suck you up. There is no way around it. The best way to get through this is not by force… The best way is to peer pressure.

Find 1 other friend (or 2–3) who wants to get up in the morning. and turn it into a race. Here is the game:

Anyone who writes a self-portrait with a flashlight around 4:00 AM (but NOT before 4:00 AM) gets 1 point.

You need to make sure you hold up your photo and turn on the lights. If you do not exceed 30 minutes you lose a point.

BONUS POINT: Everyone who does not check any social media or news stores before 8:00 AM receives a bonus point. (you do not get this point if you fail # 2)

Save the points and save the awesome and funny pictures you took so you can regret it later.

I tried every means to get up in the morning. This is the BEST way that would make me wake up every morning. I could not let my friends hit me and even worse, I had a photoshoot that you won over in my head all day.

Once you have established a habit in a week or two, a good cycle, as I call it, will come in and the benefits will outweigh the downside - you will be addicted and you will no longer need the game. But the game is good at first.

SOME OTHER TIPS / IDEAS

Forget trying to go to bed early for the first few days, it is almost impossible to work. Just get up and try so you know it will get better after a few days when your body gets used to the new schedule.

There is no screen time an hour before bedtime. Try to turn off all artificial light sources in your room.

It will not light at 4:00 AM but if you can, try to be in a place that allows natural light as the sun rises. This is a great way to greet the day.

If you have a coffee pot that does this, set it automatically to produce coffee at 4:00 AM and make it so you can feel/smell it.

The first 30 minutes are important. The battle is lost and won in small things. Deceive yourself in small steps. Leave a glass of water on the other side of your room. Also, leave your alarm on the other side of the room and next to the light switch. This way if you turn it off you will be forced to go and turn it off. So, since you are there, why not drink some water before going to bed? And if you are going back to bed why not turn on the lights first? And since you woke up why not just take a shower right away? Then you can go back to bed, and after that why not just… etc.

If you are going to press the snooze button make sure the lights are on. But do not practice this. It is better to force yourself to jump out of bed - it's like undressing.

Do something immediately to keep the blood flowing. 10 push-ups and jumping jugs. Another greeting of the sun. Take a long walk around the block outside (this was my trip and I worked well).

Try bulletproof coffee. You do not need to buy branded items. Use live coffee, buttered butter, and MCT oil (or coconut oil if you don't have one). It is rocket fuel without jitters.

WHAT ARE YOU REALLY DOING AT THIS TIME?

At first, having this amount of time by yourself will probably make you feel weird. Do not be surprised if you are not sure what to do in such free time. We usually like to keep busy. So if you do not know what to do with yourself that is fine because this is your time to explore and find out. It is part of what makes it so special because there is NO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING you should be doing at 4:00 AM!

Here are a few suggestions to consider:

  1. Meditation (start with 5 minutes and add one minute daily).
  2. Running or exercising (I usually choose to exercise in the evening because it helps me to relax and find that my morning routine is best for dreaming and thinking because my mind is young and unpredictable at the moment, but sometimes I will exercise when it sounds. Right).
  3. Journalism (I CANNOT recommend doing this enough. It was the best thing for me.)
  4. Consider two questions.
  5. Imagine, dream, and imagine what it would be like.
  6. Think about and write down your dream date. Make it as real and clear as possible. Then run mentally every morning. Update it as your dream day changes. I was shocked one day when I realized that that day — by accident — I had achieved my dream day.
  7. Write down three things that you are grateful for right now.
  8. Write down three things you would like to do or be today.
  9. Write down three things you will never forget yesterday. Have fun. Meditate on them. Learn from them.
  10. Write down your values and beliefs. Visit it again and sharpen it as it becomes clear to you. Learn to live by them. Write down and celebrate when you respect them and think about areas where you can improve.
  11. Write a blog, a book, a short story, meditation, a poem. It does not matter to anyone who has read it. It is not theirs.
  12. Read books that give you new ideas about life.
  13. Do yoga.
  14. Write to the people you love in your life. Tell them so.
  15. Listen to upbuilding music.
You may notice that most of what I recommend is MIND exercise. Your mind is an amazing tool and if you exercise and strengthen your THINKING (like going to the gym), all sorts of amazing things can happen. But you can’t get out of the gym on day 1 and expect to lift 500 lbs.

I would recommend that you take a look at the morning habits of some of your loved ones and try some of the things they recommend. Here are a few to start with: Hal Elrod, Tony Robbins, James Altucher, Tim Ferris. Many writers, thinkers, and fictional characters also have a daily routine and often speak about it. Try things out. See what's sticking to you. Throw away everything else no matter who says do it.

While making a custom can be helpful be careful not to make it too strong which can make it mechanical and lifeless. Make the morning a time to care for and cultivate your spirit.

Create a list of options and choose three to do in the morning. Or if there are one or two things that are most important to you, but it first and leave it at that. It is good to have a list already made although you may find it difficult to make decisions very early in the morning and it will remove the resistance and help you get started. Another tactic I found to be helpful was to have a few buckets that I wanted to check out at least one job in it. Here are my buckets: Spirit, Mind, Body, Emotions. Many tasks may test multiple categories.

Above all ENJOY. It's your time to do whatever you want. No "should" be allowed.

If you do this practice you will be amazed at how your life begins to change automatically, which is reflected in the magic. But you will know better than to believe that.

And now here are two of my pictures you took from the time I played the game as a bonus to read this to the end. Things can be weird for me the first thing in the morning…
